What is Design & Build

The traditional approach for construction projects consists of the client appointing a design team to design a building and a contractor to build the premises.

The design–build procurement route changes the traditional sequence of work with the contractor taking responsibility for both designing and also the building the premises to the client’s specification. It provides the client with a single point of responsibility to reduce risk, speed up delivery by overlapping design and construction phases and is commonly used in many countries for the procurement of various types of building.
